These
teams will participate in a 10 tournament season that will
include The Tour of Texas or Texas Championship Series,
Cross Court Classic (if does not interfere with Tour), Lone
Star Qualifier and Regionals and a few local or close out of
town one or two day tournaments.
OUT-OF-STATE
CLUB TEAM TRAVEL:
Out-of-state travel will be optional for each
team this season. If
a team has done well early on and appears to have a good
chance to qualify for Junior Olympics, the coach and directors
will discuss several out-of-state qualifier options.
The options will then be presented to the team and a
mutual decision must be reached to attend the out-of-state
tournament. An
additional fee would be involved (approximately $350 to $500
depending upon the location) and collected prior to
registration for the tournament.
Most out-of-state qualifiers are in March or April, so
the decision to travel out-of-state would have to be made
early in January to be able to register timely.
The additional fee would cover the tournament entry
fee, coach’s travel costs, the girls’ hotel rooms (they
would be required to stay together), and van rental to
transport the girls to and from the tournament site.
The girls’ flights would not be included and neither
would their food or expenses while at the tournament. (In my
experience over the years, many parents like to use their
miles or buddy passes and the like to get their flight tickets
and so do not get a good deal with inclusion of the flight.)
Either a travel agent or coordinator would be utilized
to help get a good deal on flight costs and also on parents’
rooms at the hotel.
