Information
on Coaches:
Alexia
McWhinney
("Lexi") just
completed her third year as head coach at Lamar High School.
She spent her prep career at Cypress Springs High School where
she was an All District selection in volleyball and basketball,
then went on to the University of Oklahoma to play for the NCAA
Div. I Sooner volleyball squad and graduate with a BBS in Supply
Chain Management. Lexi brings much coaching experience
both at the high school level and at the club level. She
is also part of the Six Footas Plus volleyball training program
here in town.
Allyn Martinez comes to us from
Copperfield Juniors. She has been there several years
assisting. She will be assisting under Susan Adcock and we
look forward to giving her the opportunity to learn from a great
coach and go on to have our own Kaboom team in the near future!
Carlos
Gutierrez is a former two-time Olympian and international men's
coach. Carlos
comes to us with tremendous playing and coaching
experience. Carlos is currently the head coach at
Cypress Christian School. Carlos is an amazing setter
and he has an in-depth knowledge of the game of volleyball.
Cary
Stengler joins us to help coach the Mini-Boomers.
Cary enjoyed many honors and accomplishments while playing at
Abilene Christian. She currently coaches at Cy Falls
High School and has over 12 years of experience coaching club.
Gladys Wandera Adams
joins us this season to coach the local
16s team. Gladys is a two time Olympian who represented
Kenya in both the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. Gladys also was
assistant coach at Winthrop University for 2 years. Gladys
played college ball at Lee College and then at Union University
where she was named NAIA Regional XI Player of the Year in 2004.
Helen
"Elele" Ekadeli is a former collegiate player from
Lee College and then Houston Baptist
University. Helen was once noted as the "Best Female
Player in Africa". Helen also has tremendous playing and
coaching experience. She is a dedicated coach and great
clinician. She is very good at helping athletes to
figure out what they need to correct to be able to perform a
skill to the absolute best of their ability. Helen still
currently plays on a women's USAV team.
Jamie
Lister enjoyed a collegiate career starting
at United
States Military Academy @ West Point and then 3 years at
Houston Baptist University. Jamie was the 1st to break
1,400 mark for career digs at HBU! Jamie has coached for
Southwest Juniors and Texas Tornados. Jamie still
currently plays on a women's USAV team.
Jenni Skopal will be assisting Julee James this season
with our 13s. Jenni is a former teammate of Julee and
Patty at Incarnate Word. Jenni brings great knowledge of
the game and a superior understanding of what it takes to get
girls to the next level.
Joey
Bolanos is Joe's brother. Joey has coached for
years around the area for different clubs and is now with our program full time. Joey also played on the Belizean
national team as a teenager.
Joseph
"Joe" Bolanos is the co-founder of the
club. Joe has coached for over 8 years at different
clubs around the area such as Extreme, Spike Sport and Texas
Elite. Joe played on both the Guatemalan and Belizean
national teams and is still an avid player on a men's USAV
team.
Julee
James has coached both
club ball and high school. She is a former collegiate
player from Incarnate Word. Julee is a remarkable coach
and has an amazing rapport with the girls! Julee still
currently plays on the women's Kaboom USAV team.
Kari Kirkpatrick is
coming to us from Copperfield Juniors. Kari will be
assisting Katie with 15 Force this season. Kari brings
great enthusiasm to the club as well. She has a great
rapport with the girls and a good way of putting things in
easy to understand language for them!
Katie
and Susanna "Sue" Seawright are sisters and
both remarkable
coaches!!! Katie and Susanna are both avid players
too and played college at Colorado Christian.
They have great knowledge of the game and have
coached several successful club teams in years past. We
feel very blessed to have them coaching for us and are very
happy that each will have their own team this season!
Lauren Viney
just relocated to Houston from Ohio where she was a successful
part of the Dayton Jrs program. Lauren also assisted at
Valley City State University in 07-08 season and Wright State
University previously before coming to Houston. She also
coached a successful boys team with Air City and assisted the
boys program at Centerville High School who placed 4th in State
in 2007. Lauren played college ball at Tennessee Tech and
then transferred to Eastern Michigan where she set the single
assist record in 2003.
Patty
Hinojosa has coached club ball for several years and is
still an avid player as well. Patty has a great rapport
with the girls and a remarkable way of correcting fundamental
issues. Patty played collegiate ball at Laredo Community
College and then Incarnate Word.
Shafonia
Bolanos is co-founder of the club. Shafonia grew
up in the area attending Spring Woods and Northbrook High
Schools and also played club here in the area the first two
years that Texas Elite existed. Shafonia did not play in
college due to injuries, but does currently run and play on
the women's Kaboom USAV team thanks to shoulder reconstruction
and a couple knee surgeries. Shafonia has coached club
for 10 years now, including time at Texas Elite, Spike
Sport and a small club that no longer exists in Tulsa, OK.
Shannon McInnis joins
us to coach the Boomers this season. Shannon enjoyed
her collegiate career at Houston Baptist University as well.
Shannon brings a lot of coaching experience to the
organization and has enjoyed success coaching both girls and
boys!
Susan Adcock has coached both club ball and school ball
for several years. Susan is a great coach who is very good
at correcting and enhancing fundamentals. Susan still
plays on the women's Kaboom USAV team.
Sydney
Bacon is a former player of Shafonia's. Sydney is
currently studying to be a teacher and coach. We are so
proud to have the opportunity to offer Sydney her own team
this season after having her as a great assistant coach last
season!
We
are excited to have them all and are looking forward to a
remarkable season!
